SUBJECT: Physical Education
SUBJECT TOPIC: Fitness Management- Knowledge
CONTEXT: Students will already have learned the difference between the different types of strength exercises (isometric and isotonic) and stretching exercises (static, ballistic and passive). This will be the final project of the unit and it will incorporate the use of technology.
PURPOSE OF UNIT: The purpose of this unit will be to allow students to demonstrate their knowledge regarding the different types of strength and stretching exercises through the use of social media. As a result, students will also be able to learn from their peers and demonstrate how to use social media in a positive manner.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: K.2.S1.C.1b Identify types of strength exercises and stretching exercises for personal fitness development.
PURPOSE OF UNIT:
In groups of 4, students will create a fitness video that demonstrates the different types of strength and stretching exercises. They will then post their videos on the classrooms facebook site for their classmates to see. Each student will be responsible for watching all of the other groups fitness videos and post a positive comment on each of the videos. Students will not only learn about fitness through hands on experience but also how to effectively use social media. They will also have to hand in a one page paper discussing their personal experience using social media in a classroom setting and other examples of how social media can be used to learn.
ASSESSMENT:
Students will not only be assessed on the content of their fitness video but their application to ICT in the classroom, through their facebook posts and their one page paper.

Personal device (IPod, Iphone, Tablet, Laptop)
